Why do some people always seem to have good luck? Yet others always seem to attract disasters in life and business.
Is it Karma, or our unconscious programming? Well both I suggest but the only one of the two I can easily explain is the second, our unconscious programming creates our luck. This programming helps to create the events we attract in our life. For example, our conscious mind is between 4-10% of our capacity, with between 90-96% of our power in our unconscious mind.
Let’s use the example of a fascinating coaching conversation I had yesterday. We will pretend this person is named Bob. Bob is a business owner who had four major things go wrong within 24 hours, both personally and in his business. And he describes himself as being emotionally in tune and expressive. Which would suggest good emotional fitness, yet something did not connect for me. Good emotional fitness is reflected in generally getting what you want, without excessive challenges, unlike what had occurred for him.
I strongly believe we create our own luck, and bad luck is not an accident. We tend to attract events in life and business which are consistent with our unconscious programming, which is strongly influenced by our unconscious emotions and emotional fitness. The following short video explains this real example of a person we now call Bob, and what creates his bad luck.
So in my coaching conversation with Bob, I knew there was something creating Bob’s bad luck, so took some time to explore this by asking him questions. Then it suddenly all connected. The key influence was that when these challenging events happened, he followed his Anthony Robbins training, and rather than dwelling on the feeling of anger, which he explained did not feel great, he moved on to do a state change, perhaps for simplicity, we could call it positive thinking. This could be a key factor helping him to attract bad luck. As he avoided his emotions rather than honoured them, before shifting his thoughts onto the solution. If we want to be fully emotionally fit, fully present in life, then we need to know that negative emotions have a place if we honour then, rather than suppressing then by switching them off with positive thinking. This may seem like a bridge too far, if like most people in modern society, we never learn at school the techniques to integrate our negative emotions.
An example is we can explore and integrate our negative emotions by doing an emotion fitness workout, to build emotional fitness, instead of cutting our emotions off. The emotion fitness workout is a series of steps we can use to integrate non-positive emotions, to avoid suppressing them. To avoid needing to change state which could be going into the head and logically moving forward or shifting emotional state to cut it off those feelings, in order to then move forward.
The key here for Bob is to be emotionally real, to honour and value his emotions more, instead of hiding from the things that he doesn’t want to feel. This creates a whole new authenticity and honouring of the self, helping to create the future we desire full of good luck. Built on a base of authentic feelings, creating strong emotional fitness.
The end result is that rather than having hidden stuff in Bob’s emotional body, by developing greater emotional fitness, he can weed out the emotional blocks in his unconscious which are the source helping to create those challenges.
In my own personal journey, I unintentionally used positive thinking as an avoidance mechanism, an escape mechanism to avoid anxiety and feeling emotions that I did not understand. Postive thinking cutting me off from reality, to go into the head and analysis thongs, rather than feel, which I share in the following TED-style talk.
Bob always has multiple options. He can continue to deal with problems and challenges by being super positive and not letting his emotions effect him, which does work and a lot of other people live their life this way. Yet if he was to acknowledge and respect his emotions more, before being this positive machine, then he is vastly more likely to avoid creating those circumstances, built on good emotional fitness. As anything we disown in our unconscious will keep showing up in life or business. Hence if we can acknowledge our shadow and hurt parts within, then we create a vastly more well-balanced unconscious. Driven by the fact we don’t get we want in life, we get whatever our unconscious stuff, our programming creates. This is linked closely to our emotional expression, which is a key to creating good luck. As by developing greater emotional fitness, we enhance our resilience, so that when events occur we can naturally let go of our unconscious blocks creating our luck.
The core theory is that we don’t get we want in life, we get whatever our unconscious stuff, our programming creates. This is linked closely to our emotional expression, which is a key to creating good luck. So what can you do to gain more awareness of the unconscious patterns driving your life?
